Tan Kirby Davis
Tan Kirby Davis is founder and President of The Kirby Resource Group, a management consulting firm specializing in Diversity & Inclusion and Organizational Development. The firm has been in business since 1997 and is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. KRG Clients have included AARP, American Express, Sara Lee Corporation, Haggar Clothing Co., Wachovia Bank, University of North Carolina, BMW Manufacturing, ProStaff, Novant Health, Sealy, Inc., J.M. Huber, and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
Ms. Davis has over 30 years of practical experience in Strategic Diversity, Human Resources, and Organizational Development. Prior to starting KRG, Tan spent twenty-four years with a Winston-Salem, NC based division of the Sara Lee Corporation. In her previous position as Director, Workforce Diversity, she reported directly to the division's Chief Executive Officer and President. While there, she developed a Diversity training program that was recognized by University Review magazine and served as chief diversity strategist for the division's domestic and global workforce.
Ms. Davis currently serves in a consultative role as the Associate Director for the Diversity Strategy Consortium, a national organization that includes Hallmark Cards, Corning Inc., Sara Lee Corporation, Avon Products, Rohm and Haas, Hanesbrands, Inc., and The Vanguard Group. She has also served as a Diversity consultant to The Southern Accreditation Association for Colleges and Schools. She has presented at the Society for Human Resource Management Diversity Conference and is now listed in SHRM's speakers' directory. Ms. Davis is also a contributing author of the book, Aging Education, published by University Press. Her firm was also recognized by Working Woman magazine for Entrepreneurial Excellence.
Ms. Davis has served on the Board of Trustees at Winston-Salem State University, the North Carolina Governor's Commission on Workforce Preparedness, President of the Board of Directors of the Forsyth County YWCA, Bennett College Women's Leadership Institute Advisory Board, Forsyth County United Way Committees, and the Winston-Salem Piedmont Trauma Center Advisory Board. She has also served on the School District of Greenville County's Education Plan Steering Committee in Greenville, South Carolina. She currently serves on the Greenville, SC YWCA Women's Leadership Institute Steering Committee and is enrolled in the Diversity Leadership Academy at Furman University.
She is an alumnus of Leadership America and Leadership Winston-Salem. She is the recipient of the Forsyth County YWCA Volunteer Leadership Award and also received a Business and Industry Corporate Leadership award. She has also been recognized by The White House for her leadership of a non-partisan, White House Office on Women's Initiatives.
Tan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Winston-Salem State University. She is a certified Myers-Briggs analyst and certified by the Center for Creative Leadership in several 360-leadership assessments. She has extensive training and certifications in the area of Human Resources and Diversity. She is also a nationally sought after speaker.
